Child Welfare The Raymond A. Kent School of Social work has a long tradition in working in child welfare with state and federal agencies. In 1992, the Child Welfare Training Assessment (CWTA) contract from EKU to evaluate child welfare training was secured. During this same period, the Marriage and Family Therapy Program (MFT) was incorporated into the Kent School of Social Work. MFT Director Dana Christensen was enlisted to help the State develop a child welfare practice model that would incorporate the best of strengths based, child focused and family centered principles. These efforts led to the development of the Child Welfare Training Center (CWTC) for state caseworkers at the University of Louisville’s Shelby campus. The Kent School continues the CWTA and CWTC projects and many other initiatives within child welfare.
